You – This document has your instructions for health care administered to you. There are no other parties involved.

Complexity: 5/10 – The document itself is a form established by Texas statute, and isn’t very lengthy or complicated. The medical issues, however, that are implicated by the document require a certain level understanding of medical conditions and available treatments. You should consult a physician to help you better understand the medical aspects of the document.

Privacy: 10/10 – Only you and any treating health care providers need to know about this document.

Control: 10/10 – You are the only one deciding what medical treatment you will receive, unless you indicate in the document that you want the decisions to be deferred to your Medical Power of Attorney.
